Weather in high season

Thailand is a fantastic winter holiday destination, popular because it’s the dry season. You’ll find temperatures are around 30ºC with sunny days and winds around 10-15 knots. When you sail at night and in the morning, the winds are sufficient. If you are stopping off after breakfast and need to sail in the afternoon, you’ll need the motor.

Provision planning

It’s really important to get supplies before you leave on day 1, as you can settle into your sail without having to worry about finding a shop each time you stop off. Phuket is a great starting point as you can provision well here before you set sail. The easiest way to provision is to complete an online order before you arrive so it is ready for you at the marina.

Watermaker help

Not all yachts come with a watermaker, but if you have one you will make good use of it in Thailand when out of marinas. Just be patient to wait until you are in clear and deep waters before using it or you will quickly block the filter and not be able to use it for the rest of the charter.

Join in the party

If you want to get away from it all during the day, Thailand offers stunning scenery and plenty of choice when it comes to finding remote private places to explore. If you want to be more lively in the evenings and meet some new friends, then head to Railay Beach and Phi Phi Don for an authentic Thai party atmosphere.

Avoiding day trippers

If you want that perfect Instagram photo of a secluded spot with just you, limestone stacks, azure waters and lush vegetation then you will need to get there early or stay late. If you hit popular spots at lunchtime, you will meet local guides ferrying tourists to islands, hongs, famous beaches, caves and other attractions until about 5pm. Our advice is to get there early or wait and have a spot of dinner there and watch the sunset.

On land adventures

There’s plenty to see on the islands, such as rock climbing at Railay, rendezvous diving excursions or visiting Krabi to see majestic temples. You might want to consider extending your stay for a couple of days after your charter to fit it all in.

Thailand is also perfect for all-inclusive by the cabin cruising and skippered charters, as well as bareboat charters, just give our team a call on 01227 479 900 or request a quote.
