Grenada has a hot, tropical climate all-year-round with temperatures up to 32ºC and similar water temperatures. There are two distinct seasons:
  • January to mid-April - This is the dry season which has cooler temperatures
  • June to December - This is the wet season with quick, tropical downpours followed by sunshine
The winter months offer exciting sailing while the summer is more relaxed. Wind speeds range between 15 and 25 knots.
Arrival :
Fly to Maurice Bishop International Airport (GND), formerly known Point Salines International Airport. It’s located in the parish of St. George's at Point Salines, the most south western point of the island. There are direct flights into Grenada from the UK each week with Virgin Atlantic, British Airways, American Airlines and Air Canada. You can also reach Grenada via Puerto Rico, Barbados, Trinidad and St. Vincent.
Itinerary :
7 Day Grenada DAY 1: Carriacou From base at True Blue Bay, make an early start for an exhilarating day sailing to Tyrrel Bay, on the island of Carriacou (30nm). Anchor amongst the local fishing boats and dine ashore or BBQ the fish you caught on the passage from Grenada. DAY 2: Sandy Island and Petit St. Vincent Take a swim at Sandy Island, a flawless sandy spit with no more than half a dozen palm trees, before visiting Hillsborough to pick up fresh fruit and vegetables at the market, as well as to clear out of Grenadian territory. Sail over to Petit St. Vincent (10nm) and anchor behind the reef to the north east of the island. Dinghy ashore for an excellent meal at the exclusive hotel on PSV. DAY 3: Union and Mayreau The dramatic peaks of Union Island are a short down-wind sail away. Enter Clifton Harbour and complete check-in formalities for St. Vincent territory. Set sail for palm-lined Saltwhistle Bay on the north west shore of Mayreau (12nm). Snorkel the reef on Grand Col Point. Hidden behind the pristine beach and palms of Saltwhistle Bay is a fine resort where you can enjoy dinner Flintstone-style on rock tables. DAY 4: Tobago Cays Take an early morning stroll to the top of Mayreau and enjoy the magnificent views of the Tobago Cays and surrounding islands. Navigate the channel to the Tobago Cays (5nm) under the midday sunlight. The horseshoe reef offers limitless snorkelling and some fine drift dives. Dine aboard under the stars, in the knowledge that you are in one of the most spectacular anchorages on earth. DAY 5: Tyrrel Bay Sail back to cosmopolitan Clifton Harbour to check out of St. Vincent territory, then ease the sheets for a great down-wind sail to Tyrrel Bay on Carriacou (15nm). DAY 6: Prickly Bay One last passage to Grenada and overnight at Prickly Bay (35nm), a large tranquil bay on the south coast of Grenada. Enjoy exclusive dining at one of the best restaurants on the island. At weekends, dance the night away to the local sounds of the steel pan band at the Boatyard. DAY 7: A short leisurely sail brings you back around to True Blue Bay Marina (5nm) for a noon finish. 14 Day Day 1: Port Louis Marina The diving is unspoiled by crowds and many reefs, wrecks and coral walls are waiting to be explored. No visitor to the island should leave without a visit to the waterfalls of the tropical rainforest and the volcanic crater lake of the Grand Etang Forest Reserve. Day 2: Tyrell Bay Carriacou is the largest of the Grenadine Islands, located eight miles south of Union Island. With several excellent dive sites close to each other, divers will be rewarded with sharks, turtles and eagle rays as well as myriad smaller fish to admire. Day 3: Chatham Bay Chatham Bay is one of the best kept treasures of the Grenadines. This lovely crescent beach of golden sand is virtually deserted. Relax in this tranquil location surrounded by the backdrop of rolling hills. Day 4: Petit Martinique A popular restaurant on Petite Martinique is the Palm Beach Restaurant and Bar, situated right on the beach. Catering for al fresco dining guests, you’ll enjoy quiet and secluded dining cabanas offering an intimate dining experience. From the beach you’ll see beautiful panoramic views of the neighbouring Grenadine Islands. Day 5: Saltwhistle Bay The protected moon-shaped anchorage of Saltwhistle Bay, on the eastern coast of Mayreau, a quiet island with a population of only three hundred, is a sweeping sandy bay that is one of the most romantic, secluded places you will ever visit. Day 6 and 7: Tobago Cays The huge Horseshoe Reef that protects these five deserted islets, provides some of the best snorkelling and diving in the world. Petit Bateau provides a shaded beach to the north and an easterly beach that is the best choice for beginning snorkelers as it has calm shallow water. You can’t miss the turtles that swim in abundance here. Day 8: Canouan The island is tiny, measuring only 3 ½ miles by 1 ¼ miles (6 kilometres by 2 kilometres) and is owned by St. Vincent. It was one of the last islands to be settled by Europeans because of its mountainous and heavily forested geography. Visit Raffles Resort to play a round on one of the best golf courses in the Caribbean. Day 9: Saline Bay Saline Bay is named for the salt pond just east of the sandy beach of Mayreau. Day 10: Clifton Harbour Clifton Harbour is the bustling main port of Union Island and the major yachting hub of the southern Grenadines. In the middle of Clifton Harbour sits Janti’s Happy Island, a man-made island fashioned entirely out of conch-shells with a bar and restaurant that are popular with visitors. Day 11: Petit St Vincent The island has no phones, televisions, casinos or anything else that might detract from the enjoyment of this special and secluded island paradise. Enjoy the pristine beaches and great snorkelling spots where you will be surrounded by an fascinating array of exotic fish. Day 12: Carriacou With endless sheltered anchorages, an ideal year-round climate and beautiful cruising grounds, Carriacou is a Caribbean gem worth stopping off at. The island is teeming with rich culture and fascinating traditions that bring the locals out in full colour and splendour throughout the year. Day 13: Prickly Bay Grand Anse Beach in St. George’s often appears on the list of the top ten beaches in the world. Places of interest on the island include Concord Falls and the fabulous open-air market in St. George’s. Day 14: Port Louis Marina
