Experience the beauty of the Adriatic’s breathtaking blue-green seas with a yacht charter in Croatia, where you can leisurely hop between thousands of spectacular islands. If you want to be your own captain, change your itinerary at last minute and cruise at your own pace, then a bareboat yacht charter could be just what you need for a relaxing vacation. It’s perfect for those who want flexibility, control and total privacy without the support of a crew or skipper onboard. You can book a bareboat charter if you have sailing experience and are able to confidently handle a yacht in diverse weather conditions and can anchor and moor competently. Most destinations need a formal qualification, such as the RYA’s International Certificate of Competence (ICC). Let us know if you have any concerns about your experience and we can go through this with you.
The walled city of Dubrovnik on Croatia’s Adriatic coast is known as the ‘Pearl of the Adriatic’ for good reason. Stroll along the fortifications for a fantastic view over the terracotta roofs and across the glittering sea. Gundulic Square boasts a delicious farmer’s market in the morning but comes alive at night with bustling cafes.
The historical town of Split is the perfect base from which to cruise the Dalmatian coast. Located in the heart of Dalmatia, Split is Croatia’s second largest city and home to Roman monument Diocletian’s Palace, a Unesco World Heritage site. It’s also perfect for a spot of retail therapy with plenty of shops and boutiques to browse.
Pula sits at the northernmost part of Croatia’s Istrian peninsula, where you’ll discover islands that are relatively untouched. If you love history, you’ll be spoilt with plenty of ruins from the ancient Roman Empire to explore, such as Pula’s amphitheatre. The Istrian coastline offers clear seas, a gentle summer climate and a magnificent cruising area.
Just 15 nm south of Zadar is an amazing group of 150 uninhabited islands called the Kornati, the densest archipelago in the Mediterranean. In the southern part of the archipelago, you’ll find yourself among the beautiful and scenic Kornati National Park, with its 89 islands, islets and reefs, which attract divers from all over Europe.
Catamarans and monohulls are both great for bareboat yacht charters. If you are sailing in calm waters then a catamaran can be more stable, while monohulls cut through choppier waters more easily. Catamarans are great for those who want more interior space and their shallow hulls can get you closer to shore. For sailors who want speed and performance, a monohull gives a very sharp turning radius and is known as the “purist’s choice”. While many go for new boats, just remember that a new yacht isn’t necessarily maintained as well as an older model.
