Florida Yacht Charters

Southern Florida is great for sailing year round, the most popular time of year being November through May. The wind is usually between 15 and 20 knots November through May, and 10 to 15 knots June through October. Navigation can be difficult due to numerous reefs.

There are regular flights from major US and Canada airports into Miami, Tampa, and Ft. Lauderdale airports.

7 day Bimini Islands- (flying into Ft Lauderdale)

Day 1: Harbour Towne Marina to Alice Town, Bimini.
When you arrive you will need to clear customs and immigration, then you can take a leisurely stroll on the beach. If you want to sample the local fare, eat cracked conch for dinner at one of the restaurants on the island.

Day 2: North Bimini
One of the most interesting dive and snorkel sites off of North Bimini
is “Bimini Road”, which some say is the ruin of the lost city of Atlantis. Grab a loaf of freshly baked Bimini Bread or a guava pastry from A Taste of Heaven Bakery.

Day 3: Gun Cay
Sail south to the wreck of the Sappona. This is a freighter from the 1940’s that makes for a cool snorkelling adventure. Then head further south to anchor at Gun Cay for the night.

Day 4: North Cat Cay
Spend the morning discovering the uninhabited island of Gun Cay. Trek to the lighthouse, eat a picnic lunch on one of the lovely beaches, and then go for a refreshing swim. Head to North Cat Cay to spend the night in it’s protected bay.

Day 5: Tuna Alley
Dive at a world-class dive site with coral caverns and giant crevasses. Enjoy being surrounded by colourful reef fish and other marine life. Dine at the Cat Cay Marina.

Day 6: Go snorkelling, catch fresh fish for lunch, or simply take a nap during your last full day in paradise. Head back to Harbour Towne Marina for the night.

Day 7: Disembark

7 Days Lower Keys

Day 1: Depart from Marathon Key and sail to Bahia Honda (12nm)

Day 2: Looe’s Key (6nm)
Looe’s Key is a National Marine Sanctuary with great snorkelling and diving. The Reef is from 1 to 80 feet with a great wall for SCUBA. After a few hours on the reef head for Newfound Harbor. (5NM)

Day 3: Key West (27nm)
Enjoy the nightlife and shopping in the quaint village of Key West.

Day 4: Marquesas (26nm)
This uninhabited island group offers a day of quiet and solitude. The calm water is perfect for a swim.

Day 5 and 6: Key West

Day 7:Sail back to Marathon

7 Days Upper Keys

Day 1 – Provision in the morning board and depart by 2:00 PM Sail to Miami and spend the night at Dinner Key Marina, Bay Side Marina, Miami Beach Marina or anchor in “No Name Harbor”. (18NM)

Day 2 – Depart from the Miami area and sail south down Biscayne Bay, anchor on the inside of Elliott Key (Swim, Snorkel, Beach). Spend the afternoon there and then sail a little further south to spend the night behind Pumpkin Key. (17NM)

Day 3 – Sail out through Angel Fish Creek to the outside. Best done at high tide. Entrance and exit are trickiest but in between is plenty of draft. Sail to Craysfort reef and Elbow Reef snorkel mid-morning to mid-afternoon. Then sail north to Key Largo and pull into Marina Del Mar. Have dinner at a restaurant get off the boat for a while spend the night. (26NM)

Day 4 – Sail southwest on the outside down to Marathon. Full day of sailing. Spend the night at Marathon Marina. (47NM)

Day 5 – Sail out to Sombrero Reef for an early morning snorkel. Then head back northeast and sail to Windley Key. Pull into Holiday Isle Marina (Do not dock at transient dock). Spend the night. (38NM)

Day 6 – Full day sail on the outside up to Government Cut and into Miami, sailing with the Gulf Stream will make for a very fast sail. Choose from the many marinas or moorings to spend the night. (59 NM)

Day 7 – Sail on the outside up to Port Everglades and back to Fun In The Sun Marina. Spend the night on the boat. (18NM)

7 Day

Day 1: Join your yacht at Miami Beach Marina and sail to Pumpkin Key (30nm)

Day 2: Pumpkin Key to Marina del Mar, south of Key Largo (25nm)

Day 3: Key Largo to Windley Key (20nm)

Day 4: Windley Key to Duck Key (23nm)

Day 5: Duck Key to Tavernier Key (30nm)

Day 6: Tavernier Key to Caesar’s Creek Channel (30nm)

Day 7: Caesar’s Creek to Dinner Key Marina (25nm)

Day 8: Dinner Key Marina to Miami Beach Marina to disembark (8nm)
