Split is the perfect starting base for your yacht charter, as you can sail north to Kornati Islands National Park or south to Brac, Hvar and Dubrovnik. Don’t miss the Zlatni Rat beach at Brac, the stunning Blue Cave at Vis or the breathtaking waterfall at Krka. We also recommend you spend some time looking at Split itself, with its historical architecture and rich culture, including the UNESCO-listed Diocletian Palace built for a Roman emperor at the turn of the fourth century. We’ve included a seven-day itinerary below, but visit our page on Split for more inspiration. Browse our Croatia deals on our new Deal Finder and book now.
With the turquoise Adriatic as a backdrop and a sailing ground bursting with gorgeous islands to explore, Croatia is a sailor’s favourite. It’s always handy to plan a little ahead of your charter and we’ve put together a guide to local marinas for a yacht charter from Split.
1. SPLIT MARINA
You’ll find narrow pontoons in the main part of the marina and a shop that offers basic provisions. There are well stocked supermarkets within walking distance, as well as plenty of bars and restaurants. You might want to give driving through town a miss, as the traffic is very heavy and you’ll use up your valuable time in traffic jams.
2. TROGIR MARINA
Close to the airport, Trogir is a great place to start from with its beautiful scenery and easy provisioning choices all within walking distance. The old town offers great choice for dining and enjoying a drink or two but it can get crowded in high season.
3. KASTELA MARINA
Located just 20 minutes from the Split airport (SPU), you’ll find a local shop and supermarkets within walking distance of the marina. If you want a bite to eat, there’s only one outlet for coffee and food in the marina, more can be found in the town.
4. AGANA MARINA
Exclusive to the Sunsail and Moorings charter companies, the marina has a supermarket which closes early on Sunday and it’s busy, so we recommend pre-provisioning. Although far from Trogir and Split, it’s only 20 minutes from the airport and you’ll find restaurants and bars in the town.
5. KREMIK MARINA
This large marina has good facilities but lacks a little in the way of atmosphere. Make sure you provision in Primosten, which you can get to by taxi.
6. SIBENIK (MANDALINA MARINA)
You’ll find a small shop in the marina but will need to get a taxi to the supermarket. The marina is inland and a great location for the Kornati Islands or Skradin waterfalls. You can also reach Sibenik by a taxi or water ferry.
7. SEGET DONJI
Just 1 km from Trogir, this new marina offers plenty of space, a restaurant, bar and even a swimming pool. You’ll find a small shop in the marina and nearby supermarkets too.
8. ROGOZNICA (MARINA FRAPPA)
This is a mostly private marina just 30 mins from Split airport. It offers high quality facilities and boats a supermarket, swimming pool and bar.
9. ZATON MARINA
This marina is a great base to visit Skradin, the Kornati islands or the Split islands and you’ll find local shops for provisions and small restaurants.
