Sail the Aeolian Islands for a magical yacht charter

June 21, 2017

Marina Portorosa is an excellent base destination for a yacht charter around the Aeolian Islands and Sicily. This town relatively close to two airports, just 163 km from Catania and 209 km from Palermo. We can take the transfer stress away for you and arrange transport, or you can get the train.

The journey legs can be kept short as the islands are really close together, which leaves more time for adventure. From Portorosa your nearest islands are just ten miles away and you can also sail around the nearby wind farm, just 72 miles away from Palermo.

The landscape is beautiful and varied with a backdrop of volcanoes, you can either enjoy life on the ocean or hike the outcrops and climb Vulcano and Stromboli for breathtaking views. Lipari and Salina, with its volcanic beaches and translucent water, are also worth a visit. Then, of course, there is all that sumptuous Mediterranean food to try!

Stopovers are easy because of the multiple anchorages available and there are a wide choice of boats, from the fastest to the most tranquil, either monohull or catamaran.

For a family cruise we suggest the following itinerary:
Day one – Depart on Sunday from Portorosa and arrive at Vulcano
Day two: Set sail from Vulcano to Panarea
Day three: Visit Stromboli and climb the volcano in the evening
Day four: Head to Salina and don’t forget to stop in Pollara Bay, as it is not to be missed
Day five: Stopover at Lipari
Day six: Return to Portorosa
