We chartered Amaris, a Bavaria 46. To be fair to the charter company, it was September, so towards the end of the season but the boat felt very tired and desperately in need to maintenance. There were lots of queries during the initial onboarding as inventory items were either missing or just didn’t work. The staff were really helpful in resolving these issues but a lot of them were very basic. We were close to refusing to take the boat, but decided as we were there to take it anyway rather than spoil our trip.
A few examples are that the bow fender locker catch didn’t work so couldn't be secured shut (until they repaired it), the anenometer wasn't connected so no wind speed or direction, electric toilet flush was unreliable, the control panel showed the bow fresh water tank as empty when it was full, the main sail very stiff to unfurl and the tender wouldn't stay inflated so we had to keep pumping it up etc.
The boat basically felt older than it actually is.
