The Jeanneau 490 charter yacht ‘Hakuna Matata IV’ is a sleek modern cruising yacht. This vessel was named Cruising World’s 2019 ‘Import Boat of the Year’. She benefits from a full exterior refit and paint refreshment in 2023 which includes new cockpit cushions, bimini, dodger and a sleek white hull repaint.
Starting at the stern, an extra-large swim platform offers easy boarding and with twin helms, there is clear access through the cockpit to the companionway. The cockpit has a classic look with teak decks under the shade of the bimini. Ease of movement around the decks is greatly enhanced by a uniquely designed walk-around deck with gently sloping side decks into the cockpit. Hakuna Matata IV also has upgraded cockpit coamings which are hinged and folded out to make large loungers on both sides of the cockpit.
She carries her beam well aft, so not only do you benefit from a huge cockpit, (with a full coverage bimini) but the twin rudders necessitated by the wide beam also give ‘4×4’ steering under sail. The shoal draft 5’5” keel allows access to virtually any mooring ball in the BVIs. The 490 is equipped with roller furling mainsail and genoa, with all control lines led aft to inboard-mounted primary electric winches, in addition to the electric coach roof winch, so you can be under full sail, shorthanded, in under 2 minutes. There is a full array of Raymarine electronics, including autopilot, chart plotter, radar, wind speed, depth, and boat speed of course. The Jeanneau 490 Hakuna Matata IV is fast, fun, and exhilarating to sail. Once at anchor and night falls, turn on the underwater lights to attract the magnificent tarpon which are so abundant in the BVI.
Jeanneau 490 Hakuna Matata IV has the upgraded 80HP Yanmar engine which will deliver 8.5 knots cruising speed under power.
Hakuna Matata IV will appeal to those looking to sail in spacious luxury. The large stateroom is forward with an island queen double with a separate large shower with sink to starboard and a head with sink to port. There are two more well-appointed queen-sized double cabins aft. There is also a second head and shower aft. All the heads onboard are electric.
The galley is well equipped with a three-burner stove and oven, double sinks, a large dual-access refrigerator, and a separate freezer. There is additional wine bottle storage under the saloon sole.
To starboard in the saloon, there is a generous folding dining table with a central bench seat and there is plentiful storage under all the saloon seating. The ambient light below is exceptional, with hull and deck portlights supplemented by multiple hatches. There is 3-zone air-conditioning and a generator to ensure comfort and power at anchor. The Fusion sound system syncs any device via Bluetooth with speakers in the saloon as well as the cockpit.
If you enjoy getting ‘in the groove’ sailing a monohull, but also love space and light, above and below decks, the Jeanneau 490 is a brilliant choice for your next sailing trip.
In addition to the comprehensive equipment lists below, we also offer wifi and watertoy rental.
