As occasional sailors, we had the misfortune of hiring a Dufour 46 with faulty bow thrusters in a windy week. Some hair raising experiences now threaten to swallow up our substantial deposit.
The yacht was clean, spacious, nimble with a decent engine. But the loss of the bow thrusters was critical. We should have insisted on their repair or a new vessel before setting out. An expensive lesson.
